Catherine Gulizia, Miss Stampede Days Rodeo Queen 2013

Catheine Gulizia - Sonora, CA
Miss Stampede Days Rodeo
Queen 2013

Here is Catherine Gulizia better known as Cat. Cat is a 22 year old from Sonora Ca. She has been riding from the age of six, taking weekly lessons till the age of 18. She Barrel Raced for the college rodeo team at Feather River College in 2009-2010. After graduating from FRC in 2011 with her Associates in Animal Sciences she began to follow her equestrian dreams. After winning her first PRCA title and her 1st horse trailer in 2011. She then found her first horse (as well as her dream horse) My Custom Tivito aka Turtle. With Turtle, they competed in National Reining Horse Association and West Coast Reining Horse Association shows. Together they flourished, placing at every show and taking home the Year End Affiliate Champion Buckling in October 2012.

Cat gives most of the credit for winning the 2013 Bakersfield Stampede Days Rodeo Queen title to her horse Turtle and her friend Brittany Slaton. Cat won horsemanship, Appearance, Speech, Modeling and Congeniality.

This duo have been traveling throughout the great state of California proudly representing the Bakersfield Stampede Days Title. However, her and Turtle don't always travel alone. Most of the time they are accompanied with her Jr. Queen Katy Priddy, Princess Macy Knight (as well as their families) and the Kern Count Sheriffs Mounted Posse.

“I am truly blessed to be accompanied by such a wonderful group of people. The Priddy, and Knight families have been the best team I could ever ask for. Both Katy and Macy are wonderful equestrians, always ready to Cowgirl Up, and represent the Bakersfield title with a huge smile and a smok’n queen run :)!!!! We are one huge family. The posse is exceptional always great food, great attitude and full of encouragement. I am pleased and very honored to represent them and call them my rodeo family. KCSMP not only puts on a wonderful rodeo but they also help underprivileged children from the Kern County.

My goal as a Rodeo Queen is to represent the sport I love, and the American Dream. I live my life through the ideas that stand behind the American Dream. There is no doubt in my mind that now more than ever that those ideas still exist; that no matter who you are or where you come from, with hard work and dedication your dreams can and will come true. I believe the American Dream and Rodeo over lap in those ideas and I as well as the contestants of the PRCA are living proof.

As I continue to travel I love spreading my story and encouraging others to follow their dreams...”

Katelyn Priddy, Miss Stampede Days Rodeo Jr. Queen 2013

Katelyn Priddy - Bakersfield, CA
Miss Stampede Days Rodeo
Jr. Queen 2013

I am Katelyn Priddy and I am honored to be chosen as the 2013 Miss Bakersfield Stampede Days Rodeo Jr Queen. I am a 5th generation Kern County rancher and I feel blessed to be born into a family whose roots run deep in western tradition and ranching. I am 14 years old and attend a Kern County High School where I am an honor student. After high school I am hoping to attend Texas A&M and focus my studies in the equine field.

Rodeo and the western lifestyle have always been important in my life. I currently compete in rodeos and gymkhanas with my horse Ranger and am active in our local 4-H club. When I am not with my horse, I show my border collie in dog shows as a junior handler and enjoy spending time with my friends and family.

I have been in attendance at the fantastic Stampede Days rodeo since I was just a young girl, and having the opportunity to represent it and the city of Bakersfield is something I take great pride in! Throughout my rein as jr queen, my goal is to represent my city, my rodeo, and the western way of life to rodeo fans all throughout this great state!

I wish to thank the Kern county Sheriffs mounted posse and pageant committee for putting on such a great pageant!! . I will work hard to promote the KCSMP and the “Biggest Little Rodeo in California” and look forward to meeting you on the rodeo trail!

Maycee Knight, Miss Stampede Days Rodeo Princess 2013

Maycee Knight - Bakersfield, CA
Miss Stampede Days Rodeo
Princess 2013

Since the ages of 3, after watching friends compete in the Stampede Days Rodeo Pageant, I knew this is what I, Maycee Knight wanted to be when I grew up.

I attend Olive Drive Elementary and at the beginning of the school year we are asked by our teachers to complete an all about me poster. The first question is always, what do you want to be when you grow up? My answer,”Rodeo Queen”. Each year same question, each year same answer of course.

When not riding my horse Walla Walla, I play volleyball and basketball. I am a member of the Calloway 4H and show Walla at 4H and open shows. I love to snow ski, camp at the beach and hang out with my family and friends.

I’m so excited to represent the Kern County Sheriff Mounted Posse as the 2013 Stampede Days Rodeo Princess and look forward to this year adventures with Cat , Katy and the Posse.

I want to thank my family and friends for all their support.

Maycee Knight
